Each weekend has activities and events focused around the following themes.
As a result of having such a large number of developers work together, Vallastaden has an architectural variety that is rare in most new city districts. Within a single block you will find a mix of detached houses, terrace houses, apartment buildings, student housing and commercial spaces. No single architect has designed two houses standing next to each other. The district is built around central themes of social, environmental and economical sustainability.
Many of the innovative aspects of Vallastaden are direct results of challenging the way in which we traditionally build cities. Throughout the process, we have developed The Vallastaden Model – a new model for social planning. The Vallastaden Model is based on the municipal toolbox for urban planning.
Exhibitions showcase great flexibility of living, as well as creative thinking. Some examples are a home hosting a pop-up restaurant, living spaces that can be adapted to fit households with varying numbers of members, and multigenerational living.
The home exhibitions have been created and curated by artists, architects, stylists and students. In addition to these 70 exhibitions, there will be themed exhibitions around issues such as innovations, resource efficiency and mobility.
On weekdays, there will be a trade-focused program featuring talks, presentations and guided tours throughout the city district.
Weekend programs are all about the public, offering a wide range of exhibitions, installations, activities and experiences for the whole family.
Entry tickets to Vallastaden 2017 are SEK 100. This ticket will give you access to the entire expo area as well as that day’s full program, with exceptions for the trade-specific program points.
